This is an example of a film where all the hype is completely justified. For once. It’s set in a wintry Stockholm, and follows the story of Oskar and his blossoming friendship with his mysterious neighbour (and vampire), Eli. The photography is breathtaking, and the dialogue is simple, sparse, and perfectly scripted. Where CGI is used, it’s subtle (the bits in Hancock made me want to gip – the bits in this did not), and there are enough gory and jumpy elements to keep you from relaxing entirely.

Very original, moving and beautiful, and I’m going to buy it : )
