Now this, I liked. Yes, it’s a very western remake of a South Korean horror film, but it’s apparently pretty different from the original, which is nice because I plan on watching the original – A Tale of Two Sisters/장화, 홍련 – at some point soon. It stars Emily Browning, off of Lemony Snicket, and Elizabeth Banks, of Zack and Miri Make a Porno fame, and is directed by Tom and Charlie Guard.
Why did I like it? Because it made me jump at least three times. And Elizabeth Banks plays a fantastic evil stepmother. And there’s a nice twist at the end that makes you want to rewatch it all over again. It’s not the scariest film I’ve ever watched, but it’s a nice little horror that redeemed the genre for me after I’d watched that bloody awful Thr3e.
